Gone With the Wind

Date: 4/15/21

AO: The Octagon

QIC: SweaterVest

Number of PAX: 8

PAX: YHC, Messier, Which Exit? (the artist formerly known as Snooki Jr.), Colgate, Slinky, Florida Man, FNG Its Ya Boi, FNG Clubber.

*DISCLAIMER— before reading this, take a moment and put on ZZ Top’s Legs. Let the opening guitar solo wash over you, and then you’ll be ready to move on. Why ZZ Top, you ask? ‘Cause its legs day, baby!

THE SCENE: A balmy 70 degrees at the Octagon. Spring has fully sprung. The dead squirrel at the Octagon oak has finally decomposed or eaten by a bird of prey (a seahawk?) and there was a light breeze in the air. All-time conditions for a legs-heavy beatdown.

WARM O RAMA:

SSH x20 IC
Abe Vigodas x 20 IC

THE THANG:

Part 1: Mosey over to Wagoner Hall, ZZ Top bumping for some AIKEN LEGS:

Lunges x20
Smurf Jacks x20

Hold plank for the six, then rinse and repeat for 2 total circuits of Aiken Legs.

Part 2: Mosey back to the Octagon for some Absolutions: (Billy Gibbons & co. still shredding strings alongside us)

Absolutions x5 IC
Karaoke Lap around the Octagon, rinse and repeat 4x for 20 total Absolutions.

Part 3: 11s (Houston’s favorite bearded power trio still accompanying our toil).

11s with burpees and merkins, lungewalking across the sidewalk in between.

And then the wind started blowing harder . . . . and YHC was about to toss merlot . . . and suddenly it seemed like a good time to wrap up the exercises and do some mary.

Who was motivated? No one. Not me. Not anyone. Not anymore. Our motivation was gone with the wind. So we capped it at around 20 burpees and 20 merkins each.

MARY: (soundtrack now changed to ZZ Tops “i got the six” )
