AO: Battleship (Cotton Exchange Parking Lot; Downtown)

The mission of F3 is to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.
1. Workouts are always free
2. Are open to all men
3. Held outdoors (or Virtual during a pandemic), rain or shine, heat or cold
4. Lead by men who participate in the workout in a rotating fashion, with no training or certification needed.
5. End with a COT
The Preblast said it all……. this workout was going to be for Big Dogs only, no scaredy cats allowed. It looks like that preblast did exactly that. Plenty of scaredy cats stayed away from this one. Now don’t get me wrong, YHC loves a good ruck day. Especially since running is the absolute devil. BUT, YHC has now quickly realized that simply spending a morning workout just rucking is a waste of time and opportunity. If that offends you, then good. The point of rucking is to push yourself past your limits and break yourself down to make you stronger. Going on a brisk stroll doesn’t accomplish that. YHC has really now embraced that mindset. Don’t be a scaredy cat, do the hard stuff………
4 other PAX decided to push the limits this morning. HUGE shout out to Kix (The Chupacabra himself) as he joined YHC by pushing himself by wearing his ruck during the workout. Mr. Kotter must have not seen the preblast because he was not expecting to grab a cinder block from YHC’s truck. But he stepped up and grabbed it! Mr. Incredible was already out running laps around the parking lot when YHC pulled up, so I know he was MOTIVATED! Tiny Dancer is just a beast, so I knew he was ready for this suck-fest as well. We circled up with our cindy’s and started our warmup.

Grab your block and make your way to Water Street. PAX Walked their cindy down to the courthouse steps on Water Street. Block was carried on a shoulder. Every 20 steps, lumberjack press to switch shoulders.
THANG 1: Courthouse Step 11s and Ring of Fire
We made our journey down Water Street, mumblechatter started out lively enough. (This would quickly come to a complete stop) As we passed Axis Fittness, YHC suggested performing some Monkey Humpers out front to show them what a real workout looked like. We finally made it to the courthouse steps and began some 11s.
Block Merkins at the bottom of the steps, Carry your block up the steps, Block Thrusters at the top, carry block back down the steps. Plan and clear, it SUCKED.
Following the ultra sucky 11s, we each grabbed a spot around the fountain at the top of the steps. All 5 PAX started doing step ups on the fountain while carrying the block on their shoulder. 1 at a time, the PAX would riffle carry their block down the steps and back up. We completed step ups, until all 5 of us were finished.
We made our way back down to water street, and completed 5 more block merkins and thrusters for good measure. Then we picked our blocks back up to repeat the alternating Lumberjack shoulder carries to the Stairway to Heaven.
THANG 2: Block Stairway to “Hell”
We made it to the stairs. Tiny Dancer let out a big sigh and said “I knew it”. The stairs are intimidating, especially while carrying a block. The PAX knew this was going to suck. Heck, I even knew it would suck when I came up with it. But that is why I came up with it. IF IT DOESN’T SUCK, IT SUCKS.

Round 5: 10 Alternating Block Merkins, 10 Block Squats, 10 Alpos, 10 Block Scary Feet Steps (Double Count), 10 Block Swings
At 1 point, the running PAX from King’s Landing stopped in the street ahead of us. We gave a loud “Hoody Hoo” to get their attention, and they can running over. They all had bright smiles on their faces; We. Did. Not. I think that further motivated our PAX to kick it into the next level. Mumblechatter stopped all together, and the focus was unreal.
To Finish, we riffle carried the blocks back to AO the entire way. If you had to lower your block, you had to completely stop until you could lift it back up. Tiny Dancer further proved he was a beast by making it to the AO first. Be like Tiny Dancer! We finished up, with 5 more block merkins and thrusters for good measure.
Prayers for my M’s family after the loss of her grandfather last week. Prayers for Mr. Kotter’s family after the loss of his step father. We discussed making the most of each and every moment you have with the ones your love and care about. Check slack for more 2nd F opportunities.
As I type this backblast, I am getting more and more jacked up. Embrace the suck. Pick the hardest workouts to go to. Push your limits. I told Kix how surprised I was to see him this morning at my workout instead of Cool Runnings. His reply was simple: “I need to get stronger”, “I need a break from running”. BOOM. He made the decision this morning to push himself, and he made himself better from it. All 4 other PAX this morning inspired me. Not once did they complain, not once did they give up. No modifications needed. Just buckled up and did the thang. For myself, just rucking a few miles isn’t enough anymore, time to step things up a couple notches. This morning sucked, but in the suckiest of Great ways.
