Today is my M and my 14th wedding anniversary. I wanted to share a couple of pieces of wisdom we’ve learned and that have helped carry us this far.
- The world says marriage is about you and that if it doesn’t work for you anymore, to get out. We have committed to the concept of divorce not being an option. We don’t speak of divorce as it relates to our own marriage.
- “If two spouses each say, ‘I’m going to treat my self-centeredness as the main problem in the marriage,’ you have the prospect of a truly great marriage.” – Tim Keller in “The Meaning of Marriage” This is a tough one to follow. I’ve failed even this week as I’ve believed that my M’s self-centeredness was the main problem. I need to constantly be reminded of this as well.
It was a pleasure and an honor to lead these HIM this morning!
